Which Type of Braces Should You Pick?

Clear braces (which are produced by Ormco) are very similar to the ceramic type.  Since they are clear, they do not detract from the person's smile.  As with the ceramic type, they are also more expensive that the metal type.  The Invisalign type are another type that are sometimes used.  They are used for people who do not have serious teeth problems but still need some type of braces.  The reasons that someone may use these kind include the fact that they are basically invisible and because they can be removed by the patient.  However, they are somewhat more expensive than the metal type.

A unique type of braces that are not commonly used are the lingual type.  These are installed behind the patients teeth rather than in front of them and are made of metal.  Since they are place behind the teeth rather than in front of them, they are almost invisible to those that are looking at the person's teeth.  However, there are a few reasons why you might not want to get them installed.  First of all, some people with certain oral problems are prohibited from wearing them.  In addition to this, they can be somewhat more expensive that the metal type.  This is because to have them put into your mouth, an orthodontist is required to have special training that not all orthodontists have.  Since not all orthodontists have this training, the ones that do usually charge a premium for the installation of this type.  These teeth straightening devices also talk longer to straighten your teeth than metal braces do.  For these reasons, lingual braces are not usually used very often.  

The type that are most often used are the metal type.  Metal braces are used most often because they are the least expensive type and they are very strong.  They also straighten teeth faster than any other type.  The main reason that people do not like them is because some people think that they are unattractive.  With this information you should be able to make an informed decision about which type of braces you will want to have put on your teeth.
